One of the things I love most about working for associations is not being limited to one specific job track. Over my association career, I’ve done pretty much everything, spanning from administrative work to editorial to meeting planning to marketing to web management to social media and community management to marketing to fundraising to…pretty much a little of everything. Spending almost five years “doing” social media and community management for ASHA was great and afforded me the opportunity to grow a large association’s social media presence from non-existent to huge, and to focus exclusively on social media and community management before that was a thing at most associations.
Now, however, I’m excited to have the opportunity to be part of a small staff organization where I still manage social media but also all aspects of communications, marketing and publications. I have a ton to learn, which is why I’m thrilled to be able to attend Association Media & Publishing’s Annual meeting next week. Advertising sales, design, editorial, marketing…so many good sessions to choose from.
If you’re at the conference, come say hi! And if not, I’m sure I’ll be writing a wrap-up post about the stuff I learn, so stay tuned. [Hint: if you don’t already subscribe to Mizz Information, it’s never too late–subscribe now.]
